Kent Newsome
Blog: http://www.newsome.org/

We speak with Kent about his blogging, his music and his connections. Dave has connected with Kent through cross linking and reading Kent’s blog for quite a while. In this episode of EELS we deepen that connection. Some of the things we talk about are:

[deepening the connection]
- first connected – both reading doc searls?
- linked/wrote on the second opinion / longtailjewel / newtailblog meme
[listened our horizontal hq rants]
- father, husband,lawyer,songwriter
- music. fav genre; fav song; obsession? how deal with issues copyright on ranchocast?
- blogging isn’t a profession. blogs aren’t money makers. (because effect?)
- Facebook and blogs:
“Kent is making the mistake of looking at services, not people. Social networking services like Facebook, and socially-enabled blogging services like MindSay, let people define a network through connections, not link-exchanges.” Jay Neely
- Blogs vs social networks
[when does information become knowledge [economy]?]
- Dave rants about community, language of physical vs digital realms
- Swivel feeds – let readers rebuild your blogroll
- UnTechnorati
- Permanent Twitter saving service needed
- Can Facebook break out of the walls?
[can we get meaningful RSS out of Facebook or is it another walled garden?]

[...] Yes, I know. I’m really, really late with this weeks links. I been busy with work, blogging other things on my personal blog, and podcasting. And then my connection went down for 24hours. [...]

I listened to the whole show and since you asked at the end here’s a couple constructive thoughts on production values:

    - too long, parts I lost interest when things tried to get too philosophical. Almost felt bad for Kent who really didn’t seem to be part of some of the deep conversation. Would have been better, tighter as a 30 minute or less production.
    - one of the hosts and I’m sorry I didn’t get his name has a really, really thick, low accent and was kind of hard to understand and follow at times. Kent was more clear (via Skype) than the hosts.
    - regarding the question about Twitter services, there are numerous Twitter plugins for WordPress that will import your tweets into posts. Just do a Google search for wordpress twitter plugins.

    Thanks for the podcast :)

    Hi T

Thanks for your comments. Always hard to be concise when you’re just really chatting with friends. I take your point though.

    Regards,

    Dave
