Dave, Kent & Mike are joined by VinBrown and talk tech news – mostly. With the odd rant on Kookaburras and the Lifekludger wiki launch.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,Merry merry king of the bush is he.Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh, Kookaburra,Gay your life must be!

- Mike changes the wikipedia entry to appease his ego
(Then finds out from his wife that it was the OTHER way around. Mike claims the last line is ‘gay your life must be’, Mandy is the one who asserts ‘HOW gay your life must be’. DOH!!!

  1. Could Apple have pushed their luck too far? — Shooting at Bubbles Says:

[...] I was reading Kent Newsome’s post today about Apple and Google while listening to the podcast he is a part of which had a segment on the story when a new post on TechCrunch by Jason Kincaid caught my eye. It [...]

Hello my friends who live in small earbuds!

I’m checking with my siblings re Mike’s burning question about the Kookaburra song as our ‘Mom’ used to sing it to us when we were kids. ‘Solving life’s big issues, one question at a time…’

Also, there’s an article by Chris Anderson in the Jul 2009 issue of WIRED titled ‘Waste is Good’ that has a nice explanation about Scarcity vs Abundance Management (page 076). I found interesting his comment, ‘Although consumers may prefer 100 percent free, a little artificial scarcity is the best way to make money.’ Makes me wonder if Apple really can’t keep up production of iPhones to meet the demand…

    Cheers, Rick

  3. Rick Clise Says:

Howdy again! Consensus from the Clise siblings is that the correct wording for the Kookaburra song is, ‘… gay your life must be…’ without the ‘how’. (Sorry Mandy!) And apparently the second verse is ‘Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, eating all the gum drops he can see. Wait Kookaburra, wait Kookaburra, leave some there for me.’ Oh, what memories! Cheers, Rick

  4. extraordinary Says:

LOL Rick. I think that second verse sounds a lot like your family has been playing Chinese Whispers!

Thanks for the comments and in-depth reporting. Hell, Main Stream Media has *nothing* on us!

Now, I wonder what we can do with H.R. Puffinstuff.

  5. Ian Says:

Wow, I had no idea the Kookaburra song had a second verse, my childhood now has a massive void!
